The Future Of Towns

Ireland is made up of Cities, Towns and Villages that are facing unique challenges, greatly influenced by population size and location.

They face a diverse range of concerns stemming from the economic crash such as unemployment, under-investment, emigration and business relocation. These factors have had a devastating effect on many of our towns and villages.

With the unknown uncertainties surrounding Brexit what is needed now is a forum to communicate ideas, establish resources and identify supports available to help businesses and towns in bypassing and overcoming current and future challenges.

The Future of Towns Summit on Wednesday October 18th 2017 brings together thought leaders in town centre regeneration, government departments, local authorities, tourism, business associations and community groups from across the island of Ireland. With a combination of Workshops, Training , Case Studies, and Plenary Sessions, The Summit will help point the way forward in town centre renewal and revival with expert presentations, hands-on workshops and key information to help in town centre regeneration.

The Future of Towns Summit is a must attend event for Local Authorities, Local Enterprise Offices, Chambers of Commerce, local business associations, town centre managers, tourism bodies, planners and many more.

The summit will highlight the importance of the co-operation between City & County Councils, the local business community, residents, landlords and other stakeholders to achieve demonstrable improvements in town and village centre locations.

The new Framework for Town Centre Renewal developed by the Retail Consultation Forum will feature prominently at the conference together with information on the concept on Town and Village Health Checks, the impact of Digital Transformation on Town Centres, successful retail and business attraction strategies as well as the importance of a thriving night time economy and examples for the reutilisation of vacant space.

Workshops and case studies of towns from the island of Ireland will be presented at the Summit including Ennis, DunLaoghaire, Blackrock, Colraine, Westport and Eniskillen
